Castillo Street Interchange in Santa Barbara, California, USA, is a major traffic thoroughfare, with more than 20,000 vehicles passing every day. But the intersection has been immersed in water for a long time, groundwater gushing from underground, water head up to 8 cm, traffic accidents continue, every year spent in litigation, compensation funds no less than millions of dollars. After repeated failures, the government decided to rebuild. Estimates range from $20 million to $30 million. It was decided to start construction in 2012. In just five days after EPT was installed, 70,000 square feet of ground stopped leaking, paper towels were in place for a decade, and the road remained dry.
